U.S Bank and Nashville Are Hispanic Chamber of Commerce offer financial literacy classes to Hispanic Businesses
U.S Bank and the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce have partner to offer free financial education classes to Hispanic business owners in Nashville. The partnership promotes financial literacy among Nashville's emergent Hispanic business community.
The "What You Need To Know About Banking" class uses U.S Bank's financial literacy curriculum, which has modules on banking, credit, budgeting, saving, credit cards, and more. Topics include: What You Must Know Before Meeting the Lender, Understanding the Eight C's Rule, Small Business Solutions and How to Reduce Processing Expenses. Hispanic business ownership has grown three times as fast as the national average and Hispanic purchasing power will soon reach more than $1.4 trillion by 2011 (Selig Center,. Univ. of GA).
Recent data indicates that the number of Hispanic-owned businesses grew up 90.9 percent to 3 million and is expected to grow 41.8 percent in the next six years to 4.3 million, with total revenues surging 39 percent to more than $539 billion spurred by growing entrepreneurial trends and affluence among the nation´s largest minority population. The first class on basic banking last year on July 28 was very successful, with participants representing a variety of south Nashville Hispanic business community.
